Can I call USCIS if I don't have a receipt number?

My attorney told me there is not way we could call USCIS since we don't have a correspondence receipt number. It's been almost three weeks since we mailed out the I-485 application and the checks were not cashed yet, so I wan to find out more especially seems like people in forum had receipt notice dated just couple days after they were mailed....

Ya the notice date of the receipts were dated for a few days after they received it BUT I did not receive the actual notice for about 3 weeks to a month. I don't think you have to worry.
