can I call IIO without receipt notice

my wife's EAD renewal did not get a receipt notice, though my new EAD has alreay arrived. both renewal applications were sent in on the same day. can I call IIO to make an inquiry on my wife's case? is it a problem calling them if we don't have the receipt notice? how to handle such a case?

Yes you can callup if you don't have a reciept notice. But just to give you an idea. My hsubands EAD was applied for and didnot recieve a receipt notice. We straight away got an approval for him. SO don't worry, it doesn't mean they are not working on the case.
 
You can get your A#

After I applied I-485 for about two to three weeks. My lawyer hadn't heard anything. So I called INS. Luckly one very nice lady answered my phone. I told her that I hadn't heard anything. She asked my name and adress. Then she told me my EAC#, A#, RD and ND.
So if you plan to call, just try to speak to them pleasantly. Appreciate their effort.
