Can I apply now or wait?

Hi all,

I am eligible to apply for Naturalization now (12/20/2006). I am also trying to move to a different state soon. I haven't found a good job yet in the state where I am trying to move.

Meanwhile, I am thinking if I should apply N-400 now or apply 3 months after I move to the new state. What are the difficulties I will face if I apply now and decide to move?

Thanks in advance for your opinions/suggessions.

If you apply now, the chances are that you will be registered into the USCIS system and complete your fingerprinting before you move. Thus you will be probably be waiting for background/security/name check when you move. You are allowed to submit a change of address during the N-400 process but there is every possibility that it could introduce delays.

If it were me, unless there is genuine urgency. I would wait and file once you have the required residency in your new state.

Remember that if you have a green card, you must file change of address when you do move anyway. See http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...toid=c1a94154d7b3d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD for this.

Hope this helps.
