can I apply for CP after I-140 CP approval and I-485 AOS filing

Dear GC gurus,

I got my I-140 approval with CP 2001 november and applied to I-485 AOS to VSC 2001 december (12/7/2001).

I have not received EAD or AP yet. After learning the delays for I-140 CP and I-485 AOS, can i change my mind and go ahead and apply for CP. If the answer is yes,

since i have already applied to AOS, does changing the process back to CP increase delays
