can i apply a social security number while i am pending on i-485?(need help)

Hi~ Guys


I really want to know, am i qualify for social security number, i enter this country by B2 Visa, my immigrant to this country through court,
i applied I-485, and i had an EAD and an AP stamped i-94, is it possible that i can apply a social security number ?, i went to the SSA office few weeks ago, i show the lady my EAD, BUT the lady told me because i am pending on i-485, i can not apply a SSN, is there anyway to apply a SSN beside using my EAD?
is it real that i can't apply a SSN because i am on i-485?

Joe is right. The person who told you this is WRONG. It doesn't matter if I-485 is pending the EAD allows you to work and hence get a SSN.
Providing it's not expired of course.
