Can I add vacation time that I spent in India to the 6-year limit?

Hi,

I was told that I could not add the vacation days that I spent outside of US toward my 6-year limit. I could add only the days that I worked being out of US.

I have taken about 5 months as a vacation and thinking that I can reclaim those days. But now I am hearing otherwise.

Could anyone shed some light on this? I would appreciate your response. Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks.

Normally Vacation time can't be used. Thats what my lawyer told me.And I believe so. If its a business trip - there ware ways to do it.

Yes you should be able to recapture the time you were out of the US. Keep in mind that you will have to prove to INS by enclosing the entry and exit stamps from your passport. If you still have the boarding passes/airline tickets.

Normally people don't file for 5 month extension. Nor I have seen attorneys recommend filing for a 5 month lost time. I could be wrong at saying this. Why don't you ask Jim Mills by sending him an e-mail

what I have heard is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. VSC doesn't allow it until the time is sufficiently interruptive and you have to show taxes paid abroad etc. this is what they asked me for when i tried to claim 7 months.
