Can I Add spouse to my 485 before current?

I just got married. My I-140 is already processed and my I-485 will be current in next 4 months. I have EAD and want get same for my wife.

But my lawyer says, I NEED TO WAIT UNTIL MY 485 IS CURRENT, BEFORE I ADD MY SPOUSE to my GC. Is this right?

Yes its right. Your PD need to be current , in order to add your wife.Right now entire EB3 category is not current.You need to wait atleast till OCT 1st to add your wife.
