Can I-140 or I-485 be cancelled or replaced if one is fired?

Hi Everyone,
     When an employee is fired, is it possible that his I-485 petition can be replaced by another employee? My I-485 was filed in
 Feb\' 01. So if i am fired, will i lose my greencard? I heard through someone that I-140 can be replaced.Is it true? I am still on H-1. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you Baba Yaga. My lawyer hasn\'t applied for EAD as i am not married. He told me that if we apply for EAD, it takes very long to get my future wife to USA. So what do you suggest? But can my I-140 be replaced?
