Our AP are approved. We are planning for a trip abroad using AP. I am the main applicant. My wife plan to come back later than I do. Will this be a problem? I heard from somewhere that you need to have the original I-485 receipt with you when using AP. Is this true?

Thank you

I think answer is Yes. One of my colleague along with his wife went to India on AP. But their 485 applications were approved, when they were in India, which they did not know. He came back alone on AP and got the PP stamped. Later on (after 2 months), he had to go back and came back along with his wife (He entered as PR, while his wife entered US on AP), and then his wife too got her PP stamped.

Thanks.

You will not have a problem. Your wife and yourself do not need to travel
together. My wife and I have done this 5-6 times in the past two years.
The AP applies to an individual, regardless of whether that individual is a
primary or derivative I-485 applicant.

About the I-485 receipt, everybody recommends carrying it with you,
but I don't know if it is technically required. I have always carried it
with me (original + copy), but they never asked me for it at the
Port Of Entry. I will still have it with me next time I exit and re-enter the
US (never know when they may request it).

Cheers
