Hi everyone,

I got an RFE from USCIS for my I-693 but the thing is I am scheduled in my state on the 7th of july and that is really like 3 weeks from now and ofcourse I don't want my case to be on hold that long. I called another USCIS certified surgeon from a diff state and they told me they can have my Med exam taken as soon as tomorrow and of course I would love that.

Question is, would that be okay havin it done from a different state? I mean is it mandatory for it to be done only in my state?

Please advise

Thanks

In my state some of the CS's had waiting lists of weeks and months. Then if you call another on the list in your area, often you can get in right away.

Yeah my sched in my area is 3 weeks from now thats why im doin it in another state coz they can have me as soon as tomorrow.

thanks alot, meow :)

Any time! :)

I guess immigration is pretty busy in your area. Lol! When I called one in my area (in fact just the closest one) they were very happy to see me very next day. The whole "exam" takes like 5 mins (just talk to the doctor), and everything else (blood, TB, shots) are taken care by the nurses anyway.

Yes, one can allow to take a medical examination in a place other than s/he lives in so long the doctor is approved/authorized by USCIS to take such an examination, which you have been already told so by others on here. Just take the list of that doctor (printed from USCIS websit) with you to your interview if officer likes to know if that particular doctor is authorized by USCIS or not since some officers don't bother to check this and give a hard time to applicant.

Also, there is a similar situation reported by a woman in another immigration forum wherein she said that officer asked her why she have done her medical examination in a place other than her place of residence. Not that it matters, but some officers are noisy and give a hard time to applicant as they suspect something like doctor might be applicant's relative/friend. That lady used a doctor from TX to fill in the Form I-693 with vaccination record while she lives in CA. This doctor charges only $20 to fill this form in and thousands of people have used his service and nobody has ever got any trouble as he is approved by USCIS. He does his work by faxing and mailing. That being said, just be ready to give a reason in case if you were to ask why you took medical exam in another state than yours. The reason you have provided here is more than enough.

Question is, would that be okay havin it done from a different state? I mean is it mandatory for it to be done only in my state?

Thanks so much Johnnycash,

well, I have always lived in NY since I got here in the states even my joint bank account statement w my husband is still addressed here in NY which is my mom in laws place. We only moved to GA since my husband was stationed there in the Army but still we come to NY from time to time and also I included my address in NY in my G325a form in the address that i lived in for the last 5yrs so I guess I really have enough proof if ever they would ask me why this and that :)

Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it guys :)

How much the doctor in NY is going to charge you for this medical examination? Which country are you from, if you don't mind me asking since I wanna know where all these grestest people come from....

Do you know that you can get most of the requried vaccinations, HIV test and TB test FREE in NY? And once you are done with tests, you can take the test report to few doctors who will charge you only $40 to fill the Form I-693 to give you everything on the same day. I know a few doctors who charge this much amount in NYC. Depending on your age, you have to see in the form/link which vaccinations you are required to take. There is a chart on what vaccinations one should take as per his/her age.

Where in Philippines you are from? I've been to Philippines so many times and even speak a bit of Tagalog. As a matter of fact, I'm going to spend this coming Xmas and New Year Eve in the Philippines. Lucena city is very close to my heart as too much history is there...

Oh, I already had my vaccinations and blood works done in the Army hospital in GA which was covered by my insurance so I did not pay anything :)

Really? thats nice to hear. well I'm from way down south in mindanao but I go to manila from time to time also. Life there in the Phils is so relaxed which I prefer than here but I really don't have much choice left since my husband would really want to raise our lil family here.

Do you happen to have families back in the phils? Yeah, I plan on takin sometime off with my son in the Phils as soon as I get my GC in which I'm very hopeful about :)

What is your ethnicity btw?

Since you are already done with all the blood work and vaccinations, yet the doctor in NY will still charge you $155??? If so then I don't think you should go to that doctor. If you would prefer, I could post here the name and address of two doctors in NY who charge only $40 to fill the form I-693 if you have record of already done with all the required vaccinations and blood work.

I came very close going to Mindanao (Visaya) many years ago. And no, I don't have any family in the Philippines, and I'm not a Philippino. I'm a natural born US citizen and my ethnicity is mixed/mutt....lols
