Can H1 visa holder work for two jobs, the same university.

Guys, I know it is not relevant to this board. But this one is my favorite place. So, please input.

I am a postdoctoral researcher (H1) in one university. MY university is going to hire me to teach one course this Fall with visiting professor title. Do I need another H1?

But it is too short to apply for another H1 for August. My 485 based on EB1 (EA) is pending, I can apply for EAD at Texas center. Do you guys know how long it takes to get the EAD? I hope I don't need it.

If I use my EAD, will that affect any thing?

Are you going to be paid separately for the teaching position? OR you will be paid what you are getting now as a post doc. If so then what you are doing might be the understanding between your boss and the department (so that your salary can come from two places which you may not notice in your pay check).

If you excercise your EAD then you will be no longer on H-1b meaning you will loose your H-1b nonimmigrant status. It is better not to loose because if something happens with your pending I-485 then you will be out of status immediately and you cannot go back to H-1B. Hope this helps

I am going to get some extra salary, that why they will give me another title: visisting professor. So I will have two titles: postdoc + visiting professor. My current H1 is for postdoc.

But it is from the same department and the same university. Do it need another H1?

Your University International office should be able to answer whether you need another H-1 or not. I am sure you do not need since you are going to work in the same department. You check with your international office. One cannot have two titles with the same H-1B. what is your department administration saying about this since they are the one who should know whether you can have two job titles on H-1B.
