Can H1 holder own a Business?

I opened a business in 2004, I filed my 485 recently 2 months back. will this be a problem for me to get the GC approved? if it is a problem how do INS know that I own a business. Unfortunately I added my wife as one of the director in 2004. ultimately I never paid her on the behalf of the business and also I never worked for that business. Infact the business did not really did good, it was kind off sleeping mode with very few transactions.
What shall I do now, just leave it open as it is or do you want me close the business now?
Please advise me...
I am confused to close it or keep it open, I have some good contacts with in the business, if I close it, I might loose all of them, I prefer to keep the business open.
so please advise me what I am supposed to do.
 
You can own a business but you can't work for it. You can hire a manager to do the work. You should talk to a lawyer.

Thank you for your reply, can I keep my wife as a partner or you want me cancel her partnership, she is not being paid at all, so what should I do?
