I recently went for my citizenship interview. During the interview the lady informed me that i had lied to a border patrol agent on the way back from mexico last year. And said she was pretty sure my application was going to get denied, it is currently in standstill because there is one more form i need to turn in.
She said i can turn that in to continure or just withdrawal my application and apply again in five years. I know for a fact that the incident she is referring to was a misinterpretation. I make many trips to tj with my friends, and we usually come back in the morning tired and half-asleep. In this particular incident, i think the agent asked a question and i must have answered yes (not knowing he had asked if i was a citizen). I had no reason to lie, clean criminal record and was handing him my green card. I have made that trip many times before that and many times after that. I am pretty familiar with the process and had no reason to lie because i had the proper document to get in. Every time my friends and i go we always get sent to secondary, so even if they had sent us to secondar on this trip it did not stand out to me because they always did that.
Here are my questions.
1. should i just submit the missing document and take my chances?
2. If denied as the lady pretty much promised, should i repeal or just wait five years?
The important thing is that time is not on my side because i'm planning to hopefully go to Ethiopia this January, and be back in the fall to start Law School. So i'm thinking i should just apply to renewal my green card, my concern is would i be denied for the same reason i was denied the citizenship application?
Like said earlier clean criminal record (just a speed ticket once), just graduated college, having been working with low income teens for last five years in middel schools and high schools promoting drug free life style.
Thanks for any and all comments.
