Can GC holders work for political/presidential campaigns?

I know that LPRs can contribute money to political campaigns in the US, but what about working for a political or presidential campaign? Is it any different if you're working for pay versus volunteering for free for a campaign? Will it impact the future citizenship application?

You can always call up the campaign you want to volunteer for and ask them. They must have very competent campaign-related lawyers.

Thanks that was a very useful link. It looks like you can contribute money (as long as you reside in the US), and volunteer for free, but you cannot volunteer for compensation. Useful to know.

But from the wording on that site, it seems that if you have a green card, you are not considered a "foreign national" in this context, and thus would not be subject to the various restrictions and prohibitions.
