can F1 in AOS work without EAD

My wife is an F1 student who filed I485. Can she work as a teaching assistent without application for EAD? She has not traveled abroad since filing I485.

F1 is not a dual-intent visa. The moment she filed I-485, her F1 status is gone. As a result she needs EAD to work.
As a side note, she also needs AP to travel abroad.
