can b2visa be converted

Hi All,
If someone comes to this country on B2 visa can they convert their visa to either B1 or H1?
If on B1 visa can they convert to H1 visa? :)
 
In 1998 I entered USA and POE stamped B-2, later I found that it should be B-1 so I can get paid, and University filed petition to convert B-2 to B-1. They told it should take 3 months, I had to leave in 2 months but they told it is ok, as soon it will be filed....
I do not know if it is possible to convert to H-1. I did convert to H-1 during my next visit which was J-1 entering.
 
It depends on whether you entered on an actual B2 visa (usually 6 months) or you entered on a visa waiver (90 days). You can change status by filing an I-539 if you entered on the B2 visa, but not if you came on visa waiver. That being said, if you file for H-1, make sure to wait at least 60 days due to dual intent issues. (info@thevisaexpert.com)
