Just sent out my i-130/485/765/131 package to Chicago lockbox. I have a question: Can I-131 AP be filed separated? if so, which way is fast? concurrently or separatedly? Someone told me if i filed i-130 to local office when i got 485 notice, it would be super fast as i could get AP second day...is it true?

Thanks

yes, you can file it separately, as long as you attach a copy of the I-485 receipt notice. The fastest way is always sending the whole package though. I filed for EAD later after sending The 485-130.... package, by itself.Took about the avarage for that year. Now I see everything is processed much faster

did you file your AP to local office with i-485 notice? I heard it would be much faster...i don't know if it's true

See I havent been in the forum a lot. But a quick review on the official web site is enough to figure nothing has changed much for the past 2 years. Now only the NBC does processing of marriage based green cards. And all correspondence is done with them. Local offices perform only the actual interview and interim EADs. Read the head lines for mailing http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-131.htm
I don't know who got you the idea that the local office would do it , AND faster on top of it . In the best case the whole mail will be directed to NBC which will take much longer time. Local offices don't do APs, unless it is medical emergency, life threatening event etc. Don't get confused. It's as simple as black and white in the gnmt web site. Good luck man.

Oh ye, sorry. At the time we filed everything was sent to the National Benefits Center. There wasn't Chicago lock-box at the time. There's no mail from or to the local office. The only time we had to send something to the local office was when we changed address, along with all other forms we had to send elsewhere for change of address Even the interview letter came from the NBC. the DO just performed the interview
