I recently received my RFI. ND Dec 2000.

I don't see why not! You have am indefinite immigration status in this country - so you can be a sponsor. Just make sure you include a copy of something (I94 or Letter Granting Asylum) with the affidavit of support.

I've known asylees who were able to fill-out the affidavit of support for vistor-visa seekers (and they were successful at it).

What does everyone else think?

asylee can not file affidavite support or can not file sponcer because i worked in my brother company.I filed 485 employement case and in my interview i told them i am working my brother company after immigration officer asked to submit affidavite support from my brother(asylum granted 99).after i got denied because of my brother affidavite support was not valid, only greencard holder or citizen file affidavite support.this is my personal bad experience.my 4.5 years gone and right now i am struggling with life.so do not file affidavite support right now.after get greencard you can file.

I have done it!

I made one before for a relative for his DV visa. He is now a US citizen (I filled in the permanent resident section).

I will be doing another one soon for another relative. You just have to have the financial resources to do it (no set number per se). Fill out the form, take it to a notary public and sign it before him, attach copies of your income/bank statement, and that's all.

Thanks. What did you fill-in where it says "If a lawfully admitted permanent resident of a United State, give "A" number___________"

Should I strike-through the "permanent resident" and write "asylee"? or

Could simply write on the blank space; "An asylee with Resident Alien # _____"? or other suggestions??

Should the Affidavit be sealed and delivered to the Embassy?

Thanks.

Technically Asylees can't file affadavit of support. I have filed one for a relative who wanted to extend his stay and he was approved....So i don't know whats the deal..I did it in 2002.

The idea behnid it is for the beneficiary not to become a public charge. I simply worte in my A# on PR section, I sent it to my relative who took it to the US embassy.
