Can a Temporary Resident Alien get medicaid

No. Medicaid requires being a permanent resident for at least 5 years, or being a US citizen.

However, a non-LPR noncitizen parent can claim Medicaid for their US citizen child(ren).

Privileges such as the medicaid can be enjoyed only by the US citizens and the legal permanent residents. People who are here on a temporary stay cannot make use of these facilities. It is only fair for the Citizens and the legal residents to enjoy these benefits rather than everybody who enters the US.

I beg to differ on this issue of fairness you raised. I came to grad school in this country legally thirteen plus years ago and have worked legally for over ten years, paying my taxes and being a legal aw abiding "non-resident alien". I only just last week became a permanent resident because of a sometimes quixotic immigration system.

I don't want to believe that it is fair for another person who came here long after I did but became a permanent resident before I did is fairly entitled to medicaid before me just because they got a green card earlier. I think whether permanent resident or legal non-resident alien, I have paid my dues.
