I am on F1. My visa expired in Dec 02. But I have time upto 14 Feb to apply for OPT. I was trying to join an Alternative Certification Program for Teaching.They rejected my application on the ground that my visa has already expired.I know I am in F1 status & once I get accepted into an ACP program I can get some school district to sponsor my H1.Are they right in rejecting my application? They are saying though I have OPT it has to be in the same field--my degree was in Computer Science, so teaching Math to grades 4-8 cannot be considered same field.What to do now?
