Can a dependent be approved without primary?

I am wondering if a dependant can be approved without the primary applicant? We applied for AP a couple of months back, and they approved my wife's application last week but not mine yet (dunno, might be waiting on the name check for me). We also took our 2nd FP a couple of days ago, and I am wondering if Nebraska will again follow the ladies-first motto and approve my wife's I-485 before they approve mine? Has this happened before, or is it even possible? I am hoping if they're waiting on the the name check (which I think could take 2-6 months), then my AP2 back in 5/2004 would've already triggered the name check and I won't have to wait too long after the FP2.

YES, they might approve a dependent before the primary applicant. I have read many cases on this forum where depedent got approved before the primary applicant. Strange ..but true..

H4/I-485 for dependents will be approved only after primary H1 / I-485 is approved.
As far as EAD and AP approval depend on the individuals I-485 pending, dependents could be approved while primay is still waiting.

Quite possible,as still primary applicant's is not 'Rejected or not yet decided'.
Once Primary applicant's issue (unfortunately)if rejected, 'Derivative '(derived from primary)approvals of AP,EAD will be void and 485 get rejected automatically /doesn't carry legal validity.

Update: AP approved

Well my AP did get approved yesterday, 3-4 days after my wife's. Also took FP2 this week. Let's see how long a wait I still have to endure until 485 approval.
