I RECEVIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE ON MY ENQUIRY:

"We are currently awaiting the results of required security checks on this case. These background checks are required of all who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the security checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact us by calling our customer service number provided below."

Is there any point in calling the 800 number to ask them about this security clearance, i.e., they received it or not? Has anyone been in this situation and tried bugging the customer service. Please share your experience.

Thanks.

Hi Shamal,

I got exactly the same message( in response to my query over the telephone with the customer service). I called them before the DOS visa bulliten was out and the PD for NSC was 01Jun04; my PD is Dec 2001 so I thought I should give them a call. What does your online status message say? Mine was changed from "pending review" to "processing has resumed on your case" after my 140 was approved last June.

Please keep us posted.

This is a standard response from USCIS, a friend on mine also got the same message. He inquired with USCIS if it means Name Check / or FP clearance, in the response he was told that his name check and FP was back (CSR did not share the results), and was under USCIS routine security check, I don't know what that means, may be the standard process of contacting the local Police Dept to ensure there are no pending cases etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
