Stamping with "Welcome Notice"

I recieved a "Welcome Notice" rather than the standard "Approval Notice" after my I-485 was approved. The welcome notice states that card will be sent to me in 21 days, unlike approval notice which tells one to go to local office for PP stamping. My lawyer said that the notice was sent in error, and that I should go to local office for stamping. Accordingly, I have an Infopass appt for Wednesday at San Jose.

I was curious to know if anyone went for stamping with only Welcome notice and did CIS local office accept welcome notice.

I am done with stamping today. It was at Newark, NJ. Carry following items with you

Info. pass, Passport, welcome notice, 2 photos, All EADs, All Advance paroles, SSN card.


At the entrance just tell security guard you are there for PP stamping for
I-485 status change. You need to go to 3rd floor for stamping and 10 th floor to SSN changes.

No need to explain anything about "approval notice not received, this was an error..." etc. unless asked.

Congratulations on your stamping. So, welcome notice seems to be ok. I shall follow your lead and just quietly present all documents tomorrow. Thanks for telling about SSN cards, that was not on my list of documents.
