I called NSC IO on 7/24 afternoon. She listened my situation and asked my receipt #. After verifying my name, she told me ny case is at staging area and waiting for officer to review. I was a little surprised because last week I called twice and both time I was told security checks pending. I asked her if it means my security checks are cleared. She told me she doesn't believe my case would have been in the staging area if security checks hadn't been cleared. I asked her what about if my case hasn't been approved by August because all dates will be unavailable then. She told me that doesn't mean no visa # available for me. She also told me I will hear a decision no later than end of Sept but likely to be earlier than that.

Anyone has experience w.r.t how long you waited after your case is in staging area?

She also told me if my case get approved before my EAD renewal gets processded, I can withdraw (I recently filed EAD renewal).

The wait time in staging area is unpredictable...you may assume 3 weeks, may be 1 week plus or minus....depends when your luck is on the higher end :D :D

hyyz,

There seems to be a lot of variation and while it doesn't seem likely to know what is exactly going on, we can make an informed guess based on what we hear. My wife and I had RFEs on our I-485s and submitted responses in June. After the June LUD, I had seen an LUD on my and my wife's pending I-485 on 7/18 but no message change. I called on 7/23, followed the steps provided in the forum, and spoke with someone (a lady) who was polite and seemed considerate. When I provided her with a background of my case, she asked me for my receipt number. She then informed me that my case was in an area waiting to be assigned to an officer. When I asked her if it meant that a visa number had already been assigned to it, she said that while she cannot confirm it, most cases waiting in that area have already been assigned visa numbers. She asked me to wait for some more time and call back again if there was no update/ decision.
