I am ausgust 2001 filer and my second fp has been done on April28-2003. I spoke to a lady duly calling 1-800 number the lady has taken all the details like filing date eac number etc., and told me that a status letter will be mailed to me with in 4 weeks. I am not sure how long it will take for the approval. It's really frustating.....
 
don't mean to alarm you but it is very possible that these clowns have misplaced your file. usually in situations like this a call to a senator's office helps. You should be able to get the info from congress.gov. if you do have a good lawyer, see if (s)he can offer to contact any offices to see what is going on. problem is that the BCIS works like a mafia - behind a wall of silence, it is quite difficult to know what is going on. good luck.
 
You should contact the senator, and your congress person. INS/BCIS has been known to misplace files.

It is very frustrating.
