Hello all,
I talked to a nice female IIO and aksed her the following:
Q. I have heard that INS has stopped all 485 processing end of Spet. Is this true?
A. NO, we are actively processing Aug. 99 cases but we have a lot of September 99 cases after those. In fact there have been lot of approvals for Aug 99 prior cases and these approvals depended on country and categories.
Q. I guess there are cases much prior to Aug 99 who have not received FP notice yet
A. We are in the process of finding these cases. Sometimes it depends on individual\'s case type and sometimes the officer who\'s handling it.
Comments: I didn\'t get the second part of the answer but didn\'t bother to requestion the IIO.
2. My PD is 1/1/97 and my ND is 02/15/00. When do you see my application reviewed for the next step (FP)
A. It might be a around 4-6 months due to the pile of Sept 99 cases. Adjustment processing is primarily done by ND.
Commens: I expected the same answer with another IIO. Apparently the lady I talked to today knew that I had called earlier when she koked that she understood how anxious I was to getting GC and be free. Interesting. Do they record info if they find your status based on EAC#?
Q. Will INS Visa quota, available in October, quicken the processing time for my case
A. It depends.. as INS has a directive to search and process the old cases. It depends on the total on how many we find and how many know are pending prior to yours

Suggestion:
MAY BE WE SHOULD START COMPILING A LIST OF FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND WHEN ANYBODY TALKS TO THE IIO, THEY CAN ASK THESE QUESTIONS AND PROVIDE UPDATES. The more people talk to IIO, the more accurately we could determine the accuracy of the answers we get from them and thereby providing immense relief for the various folks in waiting. Please let me know what you guys think.
