Spoke to a knowledgable, helpful IIO today. She told me that my file is with an officer and should hear something very shortly.

2 weeks back when I called I was told I should hear something in a couple of days.

Unfortunately, my wife's FP was received by them as "unclassified". So, she will have to get fingerprinted again. The IIO said, she will mail a letter for FP shortly. I don't know if this IIO was some manager or what?

2 weeks ago when I had called I was told that my wife's FP was received and everything was fine. I don't know what these ppl do over there.

My wife was finger printed in Arlington VA, on paper. I went to a different INS office, also in Arlington, but mine was done on a computer.

Anyway, she gave me her name, her badge number and has asked to send a letter attention to her, this is for changing my wife's last name. And once she receives a copy of marriage certificate and the new passport she will change it on the computer system and also on the file.

Felt like sharing this info. with you guys.

One question to you ppl. I added my wife after 8 months of my I485, (we filed an amendment to my 485 in April). Will we receive approvals at about the same time, or her RD = 17th April, so she will have to wait? There is another issue with her FP. By the time INS receives her FP, probably my GC would be approved.

VSC sucks.

My case is also similar but with a little change. 08/15, 10/11, 12/27 . Myself and my wife have same dates. Two weeks back, IIo also told me that I will hear a decision within a week. But already 12 days passed. Is it better to call? I took a new passport in Nov 2001 and stamped my Hi extension and also changed the last name in my wife's passport then. These two i never updated to INS. But my passport copy which was with INS now, was expired last month. Do you expect any issues with this kind of thing.

Attorney included her last name under "Other names" column in I-485 appln. and my last name after marriage in actual "Last name" column while filing I-485.

I think for you there may not be any problem. As you are primary filer, your case may get approved. But as soon as you send the marriage certificate copy, I think they may schedule another FP for your wife and may get approved in a month after yours. Hence no need to worry.

Good luck. Any clue on my situation is appreciated.

I don't know what made you chose this nickname. I am not having any fun waiting :(

I forgot to mention 1 more thing, the IIO lady asked me to send the marriage certificate copy and a letter on a colored paper, so that they will notice it readily. I don't think those idiots go thru all documents, maybe only colored ones :)

Sorry dear, I have no clue on your situation.

My wife's FP has nothing to do with her name change. The name change has not happened yet, though the lawyer says he has sent all required documents on 18th June 02.
