I called IIO this morning.
She told me my case is during process which I started heard same thing 5 months ago. And they are doing background checking, she can not give any information about expected date.

I just wonder which kind of background checking they need to do except the fringer print checking?

Background checks

Background checks (just to name a few):

- check finger prints against the FBI database
- name checks (FBI, quite possibly CIA these days, perhaps, US consulates in the country of origin and any countries where the applicant has ever resided)

If any of the above generates a match (or even a close resemblance to any record in the databases) then a more detailed analysis is required. As always, parts of the process can be computerized; however, there's always a human who makes the ultimate decision in more complex cases.

And, lest we forget, it's been repeatedly noted that the now defunct INS (BCIS ) hasn't been on the leading edge of the IT revolution.

Unfortunately, you have a name hit with someone FBI's looking for. In that kind of situation, INS sent your case to their resolution unit, and tries to find out if you're the person they're looking for. That's why your case is so delayed.

dengdeng : How do you know ? Man this is the problem with most of us.. We talk like we know everything..
wawa24: The reason could be anything. Please hope for the best.
