CA N400 processing stuck forever?

It is more than 1 month since mailing the N400 forms ( & 3 weeks since checks cashed). Not even a recept from UCIS.

I wonder if more are stuck in similar loop. One of my colleague also is stuck same way ( also CA processing center Laguna Niguel)...

Any more recent experiences?

Thanks

you know what? cis has changed their policy about interviewing people for naturlization. now they will check your FBI fingerprint and name check first and then schedule an interview. so just relax! and welcome to the club.:)

No dude.
I am talking about receipt, FP notice etc.
No sign of these.
Usually they give at least a receipt in 7-10 days. It has been over a month!

Interview etc is far far away...

Sorry, this is the USCIS. "Forever" is *much* longer than a month. If they've cashed your check then they got your application. Be patient and get used to waiting.

Guys,
This is still a problem for me. It has been 7 weeks & still no sign of a receipt or FP notice !!

Wondering what is wrong? My check has been cleared...

Thanks

That is unusual. Try to get the case number from the cancelled check, it is a handwritten number on the front of the check and you can use that # to check your case status online. Use the search function to get more info on this.

Yes, I did get that no . & also the representative over the phone also confirmed it is the same receipt no.
but still no sign of the receipt. The rep told me couple of weeks ago the receipts are not issued yet.

I wonder if they are waiting for Gonzales to go before issuing my receipt

Anyone noticing the enormous delay in the N400 proces these days?

I know friends who got the whole process done in 3 months ( same service center & same local office)....

One thing I hear of recent is, too many people are applying for citizenship recently since the hike in fees was announced. That might be one of the reasons every service center is slow in processing these receipt notices.

I don't mind paying more if the service is improved ...
Will they allow people to "short the line" after fee hike.
Can I withdraw my N400 application then & reapply when the fee hike happens?

gc_guru,

I understand your frustration, but what you say makes no sense. Why would you like to withdraw, lose your money, pay again more than double what you paid now to end naturalized about the same time ;) ? I forgot the exact date of the rate hike, but it is still around 3 months down the line, even if they process cases quicker at the time (which I doubt) it would be the same, and in any event, your case has more priority so it should benefit from any purported improvement of service. My advice would be to sit tight and have a bit of patience, unless something important in your life depends on your naturalization.

PS: Oh, I should have read your post more carefully, you think there will be a way to "short the line", no, that is not in the plans, just rate hike with the promise (carrot) of improved service, but we all know how it goes, once they get their money they will find some excuse or other to still give poor service. I don't want to be to pessimistic, hopefully they will really improve service and speed.

My 2 cents.

gc_guru,

Laguna Niguel was cited as one of the worst DO's a few yrs. ago for not following routine procedures and granting benefits to ineligible applicants. Not sure if that plays a role here but the govt. could simply be tightening the screws on them....

That said, it's still a little absurd to not even get a receipt after 7+ weeks, especially if you say that they bring up your record at the 800#. Not sure if you can do an infopass w/out a receipt # but you can try, or even maybe a walk-in to the DO.

Don't understand why you want to withdraw your appl. - makes NO SENSE. If it's in the hope of getting "expedited" processing, then.......... errrr..... excuse me while I stop laughing :) The rate hike is simply for them to cover escalating costs. From what they said - the hike was done because they didn't do a good job estimating costs a few yrs. ago and supposedly now the background investigation costs are HUGE!
