C-1 can adjustment status ?

:confused:Does anyone here know whether a person who entered the US on a C1 transit visa (he is not a crewmember, but just on his way to another country) can adjust status after marrying a USC? Some websites say you CANT, and some says you CAN.

He entered with a C1 visa and he was given an I-94 (the white paper)....but he was not a crewman but still enroute to another country.
 
You can not adjust status in the USA if you entered either as a crewman or as a passenger in transit without a visa (both fall under the C-1).

So, NO you CAN NOT adjust status. It says so on the I-485 instructions.
