Business on H1b visa

Hey friends,

I'm on H1b visa. And I need to know that COULD I OPEN A BUSINESS ON MY NAME. I WONT BE WORKING FOR IT. I WILL JUST OWN THIS BUSINESS. IS IT POSSIBLE & LEGAL?

Yes you can....

....my understanding is that for investing in any business anywhere in the world one doesn't need any visa. Immigration & investment are altogether eparate issues. And you are right, you cannot work for the company you invest in unless approved by BCIS, which in your case is probably a second H1B from your own company.

I think this kind of thing is expressedly disallowed under the visa regs.

You don't need 2nd H1B to open your business. You can open business in your name but you cannot work for it and not get paid from it.
