      First of Congratulations on becoming Lawful Permanet Resident !!!Please share your passport stamping experience in Des Moines,IA. At what time did you go, how long did you wait ? How big was the crowd, the parking and what kind of papers they were looking for ? Is Coutsey copy fine with them or do they need the attorney copy ? Please give as much details as possible. Are they open on Fridays ? Do you any idea ? Since you were approved by VSC, did Des Moines,IIO ask you any questions regarding why you are coming here for passport stamping ?What will happen after the stamping ? How will you get the actual card ? Will Des Moines forward your I-89 to NSC and then NSC forward the I-89 to VSC ? Is this how it supposed to work or am I missing something.Please share your experience.

Have Fun, You have pretty much same questions what I had in mind before going for stamping this morning.
We had our passport stamped in Desmoines IA today. (Friday 5/11/01 11:15 AM).
We (Mywife and Myself) had our approval from VSC and in the approval letter we were asked to goto Milwakee for stamping. We thought Des Moines is near us (about 2 hrs drive for us from cedar rapids) and decided to goto Desmoines instead.
When we reached the Room #369 Federal Building Waltnut st, it was 11:05 AM. There is plenty of metered parking in and around federal building and parking was not an issue.
there were only about 5-6 people in the room and we were the only one for stamping the passport. We took the number from the counter and the IIO in the counter called our number in about 5 minutes. Then we gave our Passport, Courtesy copy of approval Notice, (Yes! courtesy copy is fine with Des Moines IA.).two photographs, I-94 ,EAD.
she took everything inside and came back our passport stamped in about 5 minutes. She did not ask us any questions. She said the card will arrive in about 9 months. But I guess, that is the standard answer she gives to everyone and duration for arrival of card depends on each one\'s luck I guess!. I did ask her whom will you send the papers to. She clearly said they will goto Vermont(VSC) and VSC will send us the card.

So our Passport stamping process which took only about 10 minutes was a awesome and pleasant experinece except for the stamp itself which is like a anticlimax is just a seal in red ink which says "Temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence"

I have few other questions. Since you were supposed to go to Milwaukee, I was wondering where Des Moines IIO asked any question regarding this or not.Also, did you have your finger prints taken as well for I-89 processing ?
