Bringing wife when on OPT

Asking this for a friend:
He is on OPT and working for a company that has agreed to do H1 in the new fiscal year.
can he get his wife here based on the opt card (transition period between F1 and H1). Any pitfalls to look for or any advice on this will be much appreciated.
 
On an OPT you're still in F1 status and can bring your spouse on F2. Once you get an H1 you could get your spouse on an H4.

but any issues that he will no longer be on F1 as education has already ended. so technically there wont be any basis to give f2 for the remaining few months. Just wondering if someone has faced this problem before.
 
If your friend applies for H-1 make sure he applies for H4 at the same time though his wife may or may not be in US.
My friend had exact same situation. He got his wife on F2. same on OPT and meanwhile his company applied for his H-1. His wife arrived in US and after some time His H-1 approved. He had some issues with his wife being out of status when he got his H-1 and she was still on F2. I know it is resolved now...but not sure how...
