Hey everyone....some background, got married to my wife Dec 2012, we have a 8 month old daughter between us. My wifes sone, my stepson, lives in Philippines with his grandmother. My wife came here originally on a F1 Visa a few years earlier, and that marriage didn't work out and they divorced. She didn't bring her son as she wasn't sure how things were here, and was a bit worried about brining young son into a new country with a guy she didn't really know that well in reality.
So fast fwd....Zach, my step son, is 5 now and we are in the process of getting him here. BTW, my wife has her 10 year green card and I am an American citizen by birth.
We have been approved by USCIS, his case was expedited with help from our congressmans office. The case was sent to NVC, and again, expedite request by congressman....request sent to USEM, and we just the other day received an email from USEM saying request for expedite was approved, however they can't process approval until they receive the papers from NVC......also when signing into NVC it shows:
>>>>>Immigrant Visa Case Number: MNL2014***** 01 MNL
Case Creation Date: 08-Jan-2014
Status Updated Date: 17-Jan-2014
Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time.....<<<<<
I've gone online to the state dept site and done the 260 and 261...also the AOS form is printed up. I've paid the 88.00 fee as well.
I am wondering about the NVC where it speaks of interview....are they saying I can schedule interview or do I need to wait until USEM gives us the go ahead. I can't call today as its a holiday....just trying to figure out the next step.
