Bring forward FP Appointment?

I received notification from USCIS that my FP appointment was scheduled on 22 Aug in the local office. However, I have arranged my travel long time ago and it will be tough to cancel my travel. I wonder whether anyone here have tried to bring forward their appointment e.g. 1 day earlier? If yes, how can I do that? Please advice.

I think you have three options...
1. Call USCIS and try to schedule a I485 based FP appointment one day before. From my experience they will ask you to write a letter to the local office if you want to alter the USCIS assigned FP appointment date. So insist on just making an additional appointment instead of altering the USCIS assigned appointment. They may or may not do it. If they do they will give you a confirmation number.
2. Write or call local office to change your appointment date. It may work out in time before your trip.
3. Just show up one day in advance with your appointment notice and I485 receipt. Explain the situation and they might FP you.

It is extremely important that the local office does not send no show notice to USCIS otherwise your I485 may be considered abandoned. So be careful.

Now to my situation .....

I faced a similar situation. My FP was scheduled by USCIS during my business trip abroad.

However, my situation was more complicated. My I485 receipt notice asked me to book a FP appointment. Soon after my receipt notice the USCIS protocol changed and USCIS started sending FP appointment letters with pre-assigned dates.

As a result I had two FP appointment dates. One assigned by USCIS during my trip and one I booked myself after the trip as instructed in my I485 receipt. Phew!

I and my company lawyers called USCIS, but they asked us to write a letter to the local office explaining the situation. My lawyers did that and they were also able to contact a local officer who assured that it would be ok if I miss the first appointment (during my trip assigned by USCIS) and go to the second appointment. The letter and communication was important so that local office would not send a no show notice to USCIS.

I am planning to call the Local Office on Monday. However, I can't find the phone number on the web. Do you know where to find the phone number?

my lawyers handled the situation and they wrote the letter and called the local office. unfortunately I don't have their number. try calling USCIS first and check if they can provide you with address and phone number of your appointment biometric center. it may be worth a try if you just go to the local office now. maybe making infopass appointment will work. you will have to try. if you have lawyers ask them to sort it out

I hope it is possible

When I submitted my application to VSC, after getting the receipt, my attorney asked me to get an appointment for fingerprint. I did not receive the letter from USCIS for fingerpritnt at that time. I called the national center and asked the representative for an appointment. She asked few questions and gave me the appointment next day.
Next day morning I received the letter from USCIS, they have given a date 2 weeks later, than what I fixed. But I straight went to the local office and got our fingerprints done.
so it is possible. try to call the national center (phone number is there in your receipt) and try tofix. some local offices are very busy so getting an appointment may be difficult. Try good luck

This exactly was my situation. The appointment booked by me was after my trip. The USCIS given appointment was during my trip. I went for the appointment booked by me.

Thank you so much for the advice. I will try to call the 1-800 number tomorrow morning and see whether I can get a appointment this coming week before my travel....

I just called the 1-800 number to ask about the possibility to bring forward my appointment. However, the lady said I can only postpone my appointment and have to send back the biometric notice I receive and reschedule for the coming possible appointment... :( However, I don't want to postpone because I am worry it would delay my case. So, I decide to go to the ASC tomorrow morning as walk-in to try my luck...

I agree you should try walk-in with your appointment notice and I485 receipt. When they question explain your situation. If there is a problem also request to talk to an officer there. You may want to prepare letters addressed to USCIS for both pre-poning and post-poning the appointment and carry it to walk-in in case they are required.

walk in helped my wife to take appointmen early!!
well it depends on officer and load / rush in FOP center

Hmmm...I actually didn't have the I-485 receipt, my lawyer kept the receipt.
What kind of letter do I need to prepare?
I plan to go just with the notification and my passport/driving license...
Do you think is OK?

I think it should be enough. You can give it a try. I was saying I485 receipt to be on the safe side. I also mentioned a letter, because that is what my lawyers did on the suggestion of USCIS. Keeping a written request handy maybe useful. It should simply explain why would you want to pre-pone or post-pone your appointment giving your case details such as receipt number, A# (all available on both I485 receipt and Appointment receipt) etc...

FP done in less than 15 minutes...

I just came back from the ASC.
I successfully did my biometrics today though my appointment will be on 22 August instead... :)
I went in via walk-in basis.

Thank you for all the advice and suggestions.
