I just learnt that Boston Immigration office has stopped processing Family based GC for both spouses & parents of Citizens. From today the applications will be directed to National benefits center.

This is just FYI..not sure whether this is true. Just though will share information.

sub123 --

do you mean that the boston office no longer ACCEPTING I-485 applications for immigrants married to USCs?

Or that it is not longer INTERVIEWING AOS cases for immigrants married to USCs?

Thanks.

Well, to my knowledge, as of now they are only doing review of the I485 application and forwarding it National Benefits center. they are not going to issue EAD and AP any more, however I think they will conduct the AOS interviews.

** This is an information from one of my friend's lawyer and not sure whether it is true. Please note that Im not a lawyer***

sub123,
10 states had started transferring mailed in applications for 485 adjustment (family based) to NBC in june 2003.

Boston and NJ started using as of this week. I was in Newark office yesterday for my wife's interview and saw the notice and discussed with the office there.

It states that applicants will still mail it to NJ. Nj will forward it to NBC. NBC will do the intial checkup and money collection and then transfer the file to NJ for final interviews...

goodluck..

PS : Any applications before Feb 18th were treated the regular way as in past...

Marriage to USC

I am on H-1B1 as a physician in New Hampshire and am getting married to a US citizen soon. I'm told Boston is sending all 130/485's to the National Benefits Center (? in Missouri) - the USCIS website lists their processing time to be Nov. 2001 and this date has stayed stationary for the past several months. Can we sublit our application in Manchester, NH? How long will it take me to get my interview and my conditional permanent residence?
As an additional measure, should I also apply for employment based green card through RiR now or wait for PERM?
