Booked Appointment before Sep 6 Announcement

Hi,

I booked a USA B1/B2 visa appointment before the September 6 announcement in Canada. I am on Visitor Visa in Canada and living with my daughter. I would like to confirm whether I can attend the interview for which I have paid the fees before September 6.

According to https://travel.state.gov/content/tr...in-their-country-of-residence-sep-6-2025.html, "Existing nonimmigrant visa appointments will generally not be cancelled."

Considering the memo said “effective immediately” you have to assume it will. It only referred to existing appointments not being canceled.
I would also point out that the longer you spend in Canada before your interview the less ties to “home” you are showing, which will be a strike against you for a US visa.
