Hello guys, I am going to be sending out my package out pretty soon but I was wondering what you guys send as proof of a Bona Fide Marriage with your I-130?

I always see a lot of posts regarding Bona Fide Marriage proof to show at the interview but I dont really see people talking about sending proof with their I-130.

Thanks!

espo...

..I sent copies of the same docs which might be asked during the interview.

eg:

home deed papers
joint bank acct statement showing both names on it
car titles
car insurance
joint credit card copies
joint prop tax statement
marriage cert copy
joint utility bill (pge )

hope this helps

Sorry, my fault. I hadn't realized that the instructions were amended early this year. The I-130 my wife submitted in November only asked for basic evidence.

According to USCIS I-130 instructions All you need for filing is Marriage certificate, &

1 or more of the following
Joint lease or property ownership (Proof of residing together)
Joint utility Bills or Co-mingling of finances
Affidavits from 3rd parties having personal knowledge of your marriage

For the interview most couples prepare a folder which includes some of the following

  • Letters exchanged between couple.
  • Airline tickets stubbs between USA and foriegn spouses country
  • Pictures of couple together, wedding photos, couple with spouses relatives
  • Receipt for wedding ring purchases
  • wedding receipts
  • Joint utility bills or other documents with both names.

My wife and I put together a folder with all of the above including letters / corrspondances dated back 12 years ago.
We included a brief cover letter of how we met and how our relationship deleoped, the USCIS IO barely skimmed htrough our folder.

But it is better to have too much support evidence that not enough.

Do you guys think I will be ok with a paper from the real estate company stating that I was added to my wife's lease in her appartment? My wife got her appartment and about a month later we got married, so I am not in the original contract, but I have a paper stating that I was added to the lease and how much fees I paid etc.. Another thing is, that I do have a joint account but untill I get my marriage certificate my bank will not let my wife have my last name on the account, so on the bank account statements it shows my name and her name but with our own last names on it, same address though. Should I send pictures in this case then?

Thought I'd jump in on this thread... I'm about to file and don't have that much evidence.. Would like to hear if you guys think this is sufficient?

We've been together for 3 months, married for 2wks.
- Joint lease (she is getting added to my current lease)
- Cards / Letters written to each other.
- Wedding ring reciepts
- Photos of us together and also with friends
- We don't own a car / house / or have kids so no documentation for those things... and utilities are covered under my lease so I don't have seperate bills for those.

Planning to get some friends to write letters saying how they met me and my wife etc. and know about us being married ...

Does this sound like it'll be enough? Anything else I could add?

hey Shink we are on the same boat! I've been with my wife since January and married in March! We have an appartment together so I do have a letter from the company stating that I was added to the lease and the the rent would go up etc.. I also have pictures, and all of our phone and text messages logs etc.. I hope we have enough too!

this is my situation. the letters from friends or family members are what they would need. they asked me for 3 lettters on my interview yesterday.

Hey EspoMan.. yeah, I've got the phone/txt log too... Guess that's one more thing. Just hoping we've got enough info... Good luck to you!

Was thinking some more about the bona fide marriage documentation...

They ask for:
5) Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner (My Wife) of beneficiary (Me), if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage).

Not sure if having all 3 letters from people who were my friends before they met my wife would make a difference?... seen as she's the petitioner?... ie. their relationship to the petitioner, is they are friends of the beneficiary... Maybe I'm just sweating small stuff, but want to do it right first time :)
