nacho I wasn't sure if you were asking about the police certs. from Australia or Bolivia so I added both to the forum I guess somebody can benefit from it.
Well, I found out that in order to prove that no charges exist against your person in Bolivia in the judicial, police and DMV records you need to get the following certificates.
CERTIFICADO DE ANTECEDENTES POLICIALES.
You get this from the former PTJ which is now called FELCC (fuerza especial de lucha contra el crimen), it cost around 15 bs. fro the blank certificate which you need to get to one of the desks in the certificates section of the FELCC, they'll ask you what you need it for just say to get a US visa, it takes up to 15 days for a national check (shorter only for local, but you need a national report), usually you get it back in 3 weeks.
REJAB (Registro Judicial de Antecedentes de Bolivia)
This is usefull to prove that you havent serve time or have been found guilty of any crime, or hold any paroles under your name you buy the certificate for about 15 bs. and go to the Local Corte de Justicia and ask for the REJAB office once you queue there they get you to sign a form and to provide the blank certificate that you bought you also need to add a lawyer petition together with it (escrito de abogado - legalizado por el Colegio de Abogados)it takes 24 hours. to be processed.
REGISTRO DE ANTECEDENTES TRANSITO (DMV record check)
The DOS has ordered the embassies to check for DUI and drunk Driving Records of immigrant visa petitioners I'll find the link and update this later, I found it in the DOS website a few months ago so I tought it would be a good idea to get this certif. also. you just go to your local TRANSITO office with a xerox of your drivers license, once you have this go to the LICENCIAS section sign the xerox copy and add a lawyer petition together with it (escrito de abogado - legalizado por el Colegio de Abogados), it takes up to a week and it just states whatever record you have against your drivers license.
