Question on Birth certificate for my GC:

1. I have my original BC in Hindi with only fathers name - INS needs both parents name. Also if I get it translated from Indian consulate is it valid ? or there is some other INS authorized place for translation ?

2. I have one BC from Indian Consulate in DC - based on their records they gave me one with both parents name . Their records are my passport.

3. I have affidavit from my mother for my birth.

I need to know based on your expertise/experience - which is the best option to take. I have all my paperwork ready for filing and am not sure on this one.

you can get it translated by any one in US who knows Hindi and English and attach a letter from him/her that he/she knows both the language and he has translated it he should write his name and address go to VSC site and read what they need for translations ,no need to go to conulate
2. I have one BC from Indian Consulate in DC - based on their records they gave me one with both parents name . Their records are my passport.
---That will not be accepted by INS for GC
3. I have affidavit from my mother for my birth.
good, does it say that you were born to her on XYZ date and your fathers name on it? if it has your fathers name, place of birth, date of birth then it can be used

But you need 2 affidavits, you should get other affidavit from your father , uncle, or any relative who is elder to you and he should state that you were born on --- name of birth place in India your date of birth, your fathers name your mothers name
for the sample document go to www.immihelp.com

show all your papers to lawyer he may file them but expect RFE for birth certificate later
you can get the affidavit done in 1 day in India from any notary public on 10 rupees stamp paper, send the sample to them , once it is ready they can scan it and send it to you immidiatly and you can print it and give it to your lawyer the orignal from india can be posed to you later, INS only needs COPY
