My husband's naturalization interview is scheduled on Mar 3rd, 2008. I wanted to know how important is it for him to have his birth certificate at the time of his interview. We unfortunately, misplaced his original birth certificate during a move. Can we use any other document for proof of birth? Any response would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Usually birth certificates are not necessary. Have GC, passport. You don't even have copies of birth certificates?!
I wonder how you misplaced such an important document. Get a fire chest and keep all important documents in it. never move the papers out of it except for such occasions.

If you had submitted BC when applying for Green card (Which you must have) they already have the copy of that in your file.
Unless you want to argue about name (If your BC does not have your name same as GC and such) you should be ok. I have not heard anybody being asked for it (Though there may be such cases)
