Birth Certificate Translation

Do you know who can translate (or authorized to ) birth certificate in US ?

My lawyer asked me to translate my wife's birth certificate. He said that he can get it approved and notarized from his local client who speaks our mother tounge.(I guess somebody has to give affidavit that the translation is correct.)

I translated certificate by myself mentioning that I have sufficient knowledge of both languages and got it Notarized

As an FYI, my lawyer recommended that the certification be done by someone other than a family member. No notary is required. Check INS website regarding the certification.

I translated my own certificate + gave copy of affidavit from my mother. So don't expect any problems. I agree if its is from someone else its better.

Who can Notarize it...?

I have a friend who understands the same language. He can translate it. But I'm not sure who will Notarize it... a local Bank officer can do it?

My attorney has submitted two affidavits for the BC, and we did not submit the Non-availability certificate. (My reason for may be getting RFE)

Since I have the BC but it is missing my name. I can get it translated and keep it ready if I get RFE.

Advice?
