Hi all,
I am expecting my CP interview in June (Chennai). I have some confusion regarding my wife's birth certificate.

My wife has taken her berth certificate from her village muncipal office 2 years ago. In the birth certificate only her fater name is mentioned (No column for mother name).

She doesn't have her school leaving certificate for some reasons.

She has got affidavits from her parents for the birth date.

Do you think I need to take some precautionary measures in this case.

NVC - Forward Case to Chennai - 04/01/04

Thank you.

{ I am assuming that the birth certificate mentions the name
of your wife. If that is the case this should not cause a
problem}

{The affidavits in combination with the above birth certificate
should be sufficient}

{No}

Raju,
Thank you for your reply. Yes my wife's name is there in her birth certificate. But I read some here in the forum that, parents names also must be there in the birth certificate.
The issued birth certificate doesn't have provision to enter mother's name but only father's name.
Thank you.

Thank you.

I am not sure whether the consulate would say that both
the names of the parents MUST be available on the certificate.

In your case you are saying that the format does not have
a place to write the name of the mother. Since this is an
official format in which they are issuing the BCs, it should be
OK. On top of this you do have the affidavits, so I think it should be alright.

I can not see what other option you have, unless you want to
look at the possibility of approaching the same authorities and
ask for a fresh BC with both the parents' names.

That sounds good. She will get one more BC with both the parents names on it just in case.

mubal:

Your affidavits should be sufficient, but might as well get an updated birth certificate if you have time. In my case, neither myself or my wife had BCs. We got affidavits from our parents who are in India and certificates of non-availability from the local municipality. Unfortunately all the documents had spelling mistakes - our names were spelt differently in every document. However this did not pose a problem. Our affidavits had the names of both our parents. My consulate was Montreal.
