Birth Certificate Question

My question is when you go for the interview at the consulate, do they keep the birth certificate or do they copy your documents and give it back to you. My problem is that I only have one copy of my birth certificate and have been trying since Feb08 to get the Zimbabwean Consulate to send me another copy with no luck.

You have to make copies of all your documents, and then take the copies and the originals with you to the interview. The embassy will keep all the copies. Of course they don't keep any originals, after all, I don't assume you have two originals of your highschool diploma.
