Birth Certificate Question for 485 ..Please Help!..

All,
My name in my birth certicate is mentioned as
Verma Shaket Kumar Sundar
where Verma is the last name,
Shaket is first name and Sundar is middle name/fathers name.

My parents dropped the 'Kumar' when i joined school ,
(since somebody thought that made my name too long) so all my certificates (except birth) are without the 'Kumar'.

I had a problem with the passport authorities wherein i had
to furnish an affidavit explaining the situation and they gave me
a passport without the 'kumar'.

How should i tackle this for my 485?
Should i give them my original BC (with the 'kumar')and then brace for an RFE
or provide them original BC + affidavit by parents stating my name ..
or should i provide them BC from Indian embassy(as mentioned in one of the threads) instead of my original BC???

What is the best way of handling this?

Please advise!!!?? If your advice can be detailed that would be really great!..

Thanks in advance
-Regards

I would say a BC and affidivavit along with a brief letter of explanation would be the best although we just got RFE as INS said we didn't have BC in the original package (I know we did!). In the RFE it said an affidavit would replace the BC so you could just do that I guess.

incorrect name on birth certificate

Saket,

I am also in the same boat as you are. I have also kumar only in BC.

so what did you do?

Thanks,

Chirag

I have a question regarding submitting Birth Certificate for 485. I currently have only a photocopy of it. Does it suffice or do I need the original to submit to INS? Please advise.
