Birth Certificate and I-134 Affidavit of support

Hi,

I do not have a birth certificate. This is the suggestion I got from my attorney:

In cases where birth certificates from the authorities are unavailable or contain insufficient information regarding the birth or the parents, a sworn affidavit executed by either the parents, if living, or other close relatives older than the applicant, may be submitted. Such an affidavit, when a birth certificate is unavailable, should be accompanied by a document from a competent governmental authority confirming that the certificate does not exist, or no longer exists.

Another option for you to explore is to contact the Indian Embassy that has jurisdiction over your area of primary residence in the US.

My question is, can some one please suggest which is a better option.

Also, is there a need to file I-134 Affidavit of support with my wife's I-485? Does it need to be notarized.

Any response is much appreciated.

Thanks,
