Birth Certificate ./ Affidavit question...

Hi All:
I don\'t have the BC available right now, If I want to take an affidavit from my parents, then what is the right stamp paper I should use? (Rs.10,20,30 etc). Submiting just the Affidavit is enough or does CSC asks for any proof of no records available with government organizations like Municipality/Revenue office/etc..because the reason you are submitting the affidavit is because of lack of your birth records...

1) Your parents or your representative need to go to your local municipal office and get a "Non-availability of Birth record" certificate.

2) Your parents/parent/nearest relation have to show it to a local magistrate along with your high school certificate or passport (secondary evidence of birth date)and sign on a stamped paper (local stamp paper vendor will tell the stamp paper rate) in front of him (incase of parents, both of them have to sign if both of them are available).

3) Then they have to send all the originals to you in USA.

4) You have to photocopy all the three a) Non-availability b) Affidavit and c) High school certificate and send them to INS along with your I-485 application.

Note that INS will not accept just the affidavit. INS needs non-availability certificate also.

In my wife\'s case. I did the same and it worked fine and now our passports are stamped with US permanent residentship.

X1 and X2 are mother and father of Y
X (may be father of mother in that case X=X2 or X=X1) is signing the affidavit
Condition: X should be always 15 year or more older than Y
