Birth Certificate -- Abbrevated Initial

Hi :

My Birth Certificate has my name in the format "*.Firstname" where * - Initial (First letter of my Father's first name).Will it be an issue ? Do we need the name ( expanded ) same as in the GC application?

Not sure what format you are talking about.
If your name is writen "J. Doe" instead of "John Doe", that could be an issue. If it's your father name was shortened that should be fine.
But if you are applying for I-485, I would advise you to file your I-485 with whatever birth certificate you have now - instead of spending lots of time to obtain new birth certificate (with shortened name).
