Biometrics "YES" ...RFE/Approval "NO"

Got Biometrics code 2 yesterday for 08/01/2005.getnkk said:Please post here if
1) you had your Biometrics (Code 2) in past 2 monts,

I-485 RD 05/03
1st FP 03/04
Biometrics 06/05.

I received Biometric notice code 2 on Friday 06/24/05. They gave me an appt. for July 21, 2005. Can someone please explain me what is the need for Biometric process. I have read conflicting views.
Following are my deatails:
PD: EB3 October, 2001
I-140 & I-485 - 08/06/2003
I-140 AD - Jan, 2004
1 FP - May, 2004
III - EAD and AP approved: May, 2005
I 485 still pending with msg: On June 22, 2004, the fingerprints for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were collected and are pending review
Whatever the heck this msg means. I am stuck big time, for unknown reason.
Send an email to FBI Jan, 2005 and waiting for a response for name check status.
Now this Biometric notice with code 2. If possible, can some shed some light on it. Or this is another automatically generated msgs. without looking at your file by morons at NSC.

I got second FP (Code 2) on Jun 15th but no change of status after that. I guess we have to wait till oct before anything comes up.

Guys,
I went to my local USCIS office after making an appt. via their info pass system. I was not surprise to receieve a cold reception given to me by an old lady who was standing on the other side of the window. Well, I did not care and told her that I am a beneficiary of an employment based I-485 with a receipt date of 08/06/2003 and would like to know what is going on with my case.
She was pretty quick to grab a piece of paper showing me that they are processing 2002 cases and looked at me like I am wasting her time. I told her that I just checked USCIS web site and NSC is reporting July 2003 for EB-3 I485’s. She did not like my answer and gave me a nasty look.
I thought to myself you old B** I don’t care what you think I am going to get some information out of your lazy a**. I switched gear and made up a store on the spot. I told her that I have been trying to contact NSC, but I can never get hold of a live person. After two months of trying a customer service rep. told me that they can only see the info as displayed on the web and she told me to go to the local USCIS office.
She took my I485 receipt and went to a computer. She returned after couple of minutes with some printouts. These printouts had my info. Like name, address etc. On the second page there were details about when they initiated my 1’st FP and they have received results from FBI with no adverse information. There was no mention of name check or any other security check pending or even initiated by USCIS.
I am assuming that USCIS never initiated a name check inquiry on my case, but I still see msg: “ On June 22, 2004, the fingerprints for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were collected and are pending review” on my profile. I am not sure what to believe. I am not sure if local USCIS office sees same data as NSC folks.
Anyway, I thought I share this with you guys. I did receive my biometric appt. for July 21’st, 2005, but my I-485 is still pending.
I also contacted my HR and they told me that they are seeing biometrics apt. for some pending I-485 cases issued only by NSC.
