Biometrics when travelling

I received my green card with EB2 in the month of July. My wife's 485 got approved in the month of August but she hasn't received here green card or biometrics notice yet. We are planning on travelling outside US (My wife will get her 551 stamping).

What if my wife receives her biometrics during the timeframe that we are gone? Will it be a problem? What should we do to save ourselves from trouble?

Thanks much in advance!

Most of the places, USCIS sends notice for biometric atleast 1.5 to 2 months prior to the appointment date. Unless you are travelling for more than 1.5 months, either your will receive your notice before your travel date or you will be able to keep your appointment after coming back from travel. If your appointdate coincide with your travel dates,

- Either you can go to ASC and ask for early biometric (by showing your travel ticket). It may work, may not work - depends on office and officers.
- Or you can postpone your appointment date by sending back the notice. The notice has a section for schedule change. While sending it back, send in certified post so that you have a proof that you asked for rescheduling.

Thanks for you reply!!

Do you know how far out I can reschedule the appointment? I come under Nebraska Service Center.

Thanks!
